Change Is The Only Constant:
I remember when I was about 17 or 18 years old, I had this conversation with my dad about a personal issue going on in my life at that time. I can’t remember the circumstances, but I can remember the best advice I have ever received…
My dad said, “Look son, there are many things you can’t change about life, but you can always remember that change is the only constant in life.”
I never realized the value in that statement until the years started to go by and my awareness grew to higher levels. The potency of that statement has been engrained in my brain ever since the first time I heard it and I live by that mantra now simply because of how true it actually is.
You know, change itself seems pretty straight-forward, and I think everyone understands what change is and what it means. However, what I have found is that the biggest changes are often the least expected and the least foreshadowed in life. Meaning that the change happens very abruptly and without expectation. These are the changes that I want to outline and merge with the statement that my father said.
Whether it is having to move to another state or change your career, sometimes the worst timing and the worst change is often a blessing in disguise. Big change is often accompanied by pain and is filled with nothing but havoc and intermittent stress. You used to have something and then it is gone within a blink of an eye..
But you know what? With change, comes beginning, and with beginning comes the chance to become brand new.
To begin a new chapter.
To leave things behind.
To start over.
I firmly believe that everything happens for a reason and with that comes acceptance of any sort of change in life. More importantly, if you can simply remember that change is the only constant, then when change comes in your life, you can be put at ease. Why? Because it is the only constant. Yes, I am repeating that over and over to get it in your heads.
Not all change is bad when you know that it is just the cycle of life that has to happen. No seed ever grew until it changed into a sprout. It’s just a shift in perspective that allows you to see this deep truth about change and the power it bestows.
Accept change and welcome it into your life. There’s going to be change right around the corner anyways so you might as well make the best of it. You might even find a part of yourself that you never knew was there from a change that happens in your life.
Thank for taking the time to check this out! This topic was on my mind when I wrote this and I just wanted to share a short excerpt on it.
